Check Your Credit File
If you apply for a credit based product, a mortgage or a secured loan a credit search will be carried out to with a credit reference agency. The agency will keep a record of the search.
When you apply for a loan in joint names the search may automatically link your record with that of you partner. The search system is very sophisticated these days and can link previous address that you have lived in even if you have not disclosed them.
You can apple for a copy of your credit file and there are proceeds in place for you to appeal against an entry on the credit file if you disagree with what has been written.
